Fantail Skirt
Using the Victorian/Edwardian Fantail skirt pattern by Scroop of New Zealand, each participant will first be measured to cut the correct waist size and length. If wearing this skirt over a corset, please bring your corset for correct fitting and if you have the shoes you will be wearing, these will assist in getting the correct length.
After cutting your skirt, you will have the option to serge your seam edges. We understand this method is not historically accurate but it will allow you to finish your skirt in one class. Hand overcasting will be demonstrated along with what is now called a Hong Kong finish but the Victorians called a bound seam.
After a provided lunch, you will be surprised how fast this skirt seams. You will also learn how to add both a placket and a waistband. Each person will have their hem marked and shown how to hem a curved hem so it lies flat.
Class is limited to 6 participants so each person gets individual attention. Both lunch and your pattern are included with the class fee.
You will need 6 1/8 yards of 45” wide directional (one way design or nap) fabric OR
5 3/4 yards of 45” wide non-directional fabric OR
