Want that Jane Austen gown to look more like the fashion plates? Want the correct period support but not ready to make a Regency corset? This is the workshop for you! Startling with a custom petticoat bodice fitted to you, you will then create a period support garment able to be worn under most dresses 1795-1829. This is a three week series designed for the sewer comfortable with sewing on a sewing machine and has assembled a garment before.
The following will be needed when registering for the class:
Bust measurement (around the fullest part)
Under bust measurement
Under bust in front to floor
Bra Size
Week 1- As each student is being fit with a personalized bodice “muslin”, the rest of the class will be cutting out and assembling the skirt portion of the garment. A clean pattern will be made for each student to cut out in class or at home. Gusset Insertion will also be demonstrated.
Week 2- Gusset insertion will be demonstrated again, how and where to add bone casing, along with neck and armhole finishing.
Week 3- We will do one last fitting of the bodice portion, attach the bodice and skirt to the “waistband”, back closures and hem finishing.

Supplies needed: ¾ yard coutil, heavy canvas, duck or drill in white or cream, 4-5 yards cotton or cotton blend broadcloth in white or cream for “skirt”, 1 package of single fold or extra wide fold white or cream bias tape, 1 yard bone casing, 1 yard ¼” white or crème ribbon , 36” heavy duty electrical zip tie or imitation whalebone or Ridgeline
