Victorian/Edwardian Shirtwaist Workshop

Using Truly Victorian’s Shirtwaist (blouse) pattern TV494 (included in the class fee), we will start with fitting an inner bodice muslin to get your perfect size even though a shirtwaist did not have one. This way you can cut into your fabric with confidence that your final product will fit. We will then show you how to correct the pattern to match your fitting bodice muslin, help with the proper layout for cutting your fabric in one f the two views selected by you, and assist through the construction process.

Mela will need your bust, waist and bra with cup size to create a bodice muslin for fitting and to order your pattern by January 10. You can email her at ateliermela.net

You will need 3 7/8 yards of any light weight woven fabric. Most of these blouses can be made in light weight cottons, cotton blends, lawn, voile, batiste, light weight linen and shirt weight silks. The front is closed with buttons which are usually 3/8”-5/8"' in size. The smaller the button, the more you will need, usually 6-8.

This class is limited to 6 participants to make sure each person gets personal attention.

Lunch is included in the price of the class.

Cost for CGW members $70.00 (Priority registration will be given to CGW members)

Cost for Non CGW member $100.00
