~Carving Your Own Hat Blocks~
In this three day master class, you will learn how to design and carve both crowns and brims from a high density polystyrene block. Your brims can be two sided, able to block on both sides, or single sided, based on your designs. The class includes all of your supplies and tools for creating 5 different blocks, along with your lunch each day. Dusk masks and paper overalls will also be included to protect you and your clothing. Samples of hat blocks will be available as inspiration and reference. No carving experience is needed.
Class Time: 3 sessions, 6 1/2 hours each including a lunch break
Maximum Class Size: 12 people

Jane Smith started making hats for theatre and film in 1968, and works in felt, straw, buckram, plastic and fabric in her London studio. Her hats can be seen in such films as The Duchess, Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter, Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, The Invisible Woman, Pan, The Iron Lady and 47 Ronin.
