Are you ready to start on your “Miss Fisher” wardrobe? Have nothing to wear to this year’s Gatsby themed event or party? This workshop series will help you create a 1920’s day or evening dress based upon your choice between two Decades of Style patterns (1920’s Baltimore Dress- beginning sewers or 1925 Zig Zag Dress- intermediate to advanced sewers).

Week 1 - We will cut and fit a muslin of your dress and to create the perfect pattern. While you wait your fitting turn, help will be given to cut your skirt portion. Each student’s fabric choice will determine whether they need to serge or French seam their pieces. This will be discussed and decided upon before you leave that evening. After your fitting, you will be able to cut out the top of your dress at home or next week in class. (Open sew is also available on March 13 if you need use of the cutting table for $10.00 an hour).

Week 2 – As each dress will be different, we will work with each of you to seam up your dress, including finishing off your seams. We will also show how your pattern can create a slip pattern to go under your dress and how to figure the yardage needed.

Week 3- We will show you how to cut and insert the sleeves if your design has them and deal with neck and arm hole finishing. 1925 Zig Zag dress sewers will attach their skirt to the bodice.

For those making a slip, the steps for construction will be shown.

Week 4 - This is time for a final fitting, hems and any finishing details your dress may need.
