Regency Dress Workshop Series (RDS) Part 4 of 4

We will lead you through patterning, fitting and creating a dress perfect for your next Jane Austen/Regency ball, picnic or tea.  This is a four evening series, which will require some “homework” in-between, usually hand sewing or cutting out and is designed for the sewer comfortable with their sewing machine and assembling a garment.

The following will be needed when registering for the class:

Bust measurement (over the fullest part)            Under bust measurement

Around upper arm                                             Bra size including cup

Week 1 - Wear/bring the underpinnings you plan on wearing under this dress (Regency petticoat bodice, Regency corset or a well supporting bra. Larger busted women without period underpinnings often wear a well supporting sports bra}. A pre-made by us, canvas fitting bodice will be fit on you and altered to create a “personal” pattern, discussion of your personal dress design (we will have plenty of pictures!), demonstration of how to cut from your fabric including 2 “skirt” and 3 sleeve pattern options.

Week 2 - We will help those who haven’t cut out their dress to do so and start everyone on sewing their bodice and sleeves. Neckline finishes will be demonstrated.

Week 3 - As each of your bodices is being individually fit and the sleeves checked that they are correctly inserted; the rest will be sewing up their skirts, adding a placket and attaching the skirt to a band. Neckline finishes will be demonstrated again for those still needing them.

Week 4 - We wrap up with attaching the bodice to the skirt band from the top, closures, and hems. You’re finished!
